Technical SEO

Your web developer may be great at creating your website, but they are very rarely an SEO expert. As a technical SEO specialist, I offer skills that are the same as your developer but with a dedicated focus on optimising code for search engines.

Building a strong technical SEO foundation transforms your website into a robust web presence.

This involves improving various aspects such as site speed, mobile responsiveness, URL structure, image alt tags, sitemaps, schema markup, security protocols, server response times, and more.

Effective technical SEO implementation means that search engines can "crawl" your website much easier than without optimisation and set's the stage ready for on-page optimisation.

Keyword Research

Pages on a website no longer rank for only a single keyword and so to focus solely on achieving the #1 ranking for a single keyword on Google is a HUGE mistake.

Due to Google's updates like Rankbrain and BERT, along with personalised search results, keywords have transformed into topics and pages now appear for lots of variations of the topic the page targets.

Approximately 80% of these search queries (or keywords) are considered "long-tail keywords" that rarely repeat. The remaining 20% consist of keywords targeted by Pay Per Click campaigns making PPC very costly compared to SEO.

Search results now vary based on device, location, search history, and more—this is the modern approach to "keyword research".

On-Page Optimisation

Your website needs technical SEO. Once it has been created by your web developer it then needs to be optimised for search engines. This not only includes the whole theme across the whole website but also each individual page too.

Many people primarily focus on Google search for SEO, but this is evolving as new players such as ChatGPT enter the market and Bing's usage grows. Regardless, search results will always depend on which content is most useful to the end user.

Traditional SEO involves optimising your meta title, description, header tags, images, internal links, outbound links, schema markup, page load speed, and much more. However, the current focus is increasingly on pages that are simply more helpful than others.

Link Building

Link building is considered against Google's guidelines simply because it is effective for SEO. This means it can be manipulated.

In an ideal world, everyone would create absolutely amazing content that would be socially shared and that naturally attracts backlinks. But in the real world of business and the competitive landscape, it’s the most adaptable who succeed.

Your website will inevitably pick up low-quality links; this happens to most sites. These can mess up your anchor text ratio and skew your link velocity (link building rate). Google might ignore certain links without letting you know when or why, furthermore, there are multiple ways to get hit by a Google Penguin penalty and you may not even realise why.

Chances are, your competitors are actively building links and getting ahead. If you don’t manage your backlink profile well, your website’s survival is at risk.

New Content Creation

SEO is all about your web pages (or web content) and what goes onto them. Unless you have a page that matches what your customers are typing into the search engines, you will not be found.

If you have experience with SEO, you're probably aware of the ongoing debates about silo structuring, NLP, semantics, SurferSEO, and the growing importance of AI in SEO's future.

Having been involved in SEO since its began, I can confirm that regardless of the latest technologies, quality content remains paramount—always has and always will. This means you must put people first and deliver their expectations, regardless of what you sell.

Google, in particular, now focuses a lot on helpful content and has a dedicated part of their algorithm, the "Helpful Content Update (HCU)" that can asses if you fit the bill.

Partner Services

Interested in partnering with Graham SEO?

My team and I have been working with local agencies for years.

The way we work depends upon what you need. First and foremost I've always considered myself an SEO analyst with a focus upon technical SEO.

So if you need an audit, investigation, strategy or simply want to offer your clients SEO and have myself and my team fulfill it, then let's have a chat.

Honesty is always the best policy and in my experience, it's best to tell your client you are working with a local SEO consultant, it's never failed yet. We're not a faceless agency, we're local and we can meet if you like.

Local SEO Services Liverpool

If your business aims to attract local customers, then local SEO is essential for your success.

Most people searching for local services use their phone, which means search results are customised based on their location, search history and (to a degree) device type.

As a result, a local SEO campaign requires a strategy that is different when compared to those used for national or eCommerce sites. This includes optimising your Google My Business profile (previously called Google My Business), creating specific landing pages for each location and service, generating reviews and citations, publishing content centred on local interests, and incorporating geo-specific keywords as we go.

Whether your business operates locally, nationally, or on eCommerce platforms, my team and I have the expertise to handle all your SEO needs.

National SEO Services

Running a business with a national scope requires a different SEO approach compared to local SEO.

It’s essential not to concentrate solely on large “head” keywords that you are keen to rank for, but to also consider the vast majority of search queries your potential customers are using.

National SEO typically focuses more on broader topics. For instance, instead of just targeting a main keyword like “speeding solicitor” where the user intent can be ambiguous and might yield only a few enquiries monthly, you should aim for more specific phrases such as “court summons for driving 100 in a 30 zone.” These longer-tail keywords can attract thousands of searches with clear intent, potentially leading to hundreds of enquiries each month. This method not only helps in capturing traffic for your main keyword but also greatly enhances your business presence as you rise in the rankings.

This approach has consistently demonstrated real-world success—rest assured, we have the expertise to support you.

Liverpool Ecommerce SEO

I’ve worked with lots of eCommerce sites over the years, I’m good at it too. Working with eCommerce websites my team and I have consistently helped clients generate millions through targeted eCommerce SEO strategies.

Developing an effective eCommerce SEO strategy involves some similarities with national SEO, but it’s crucial that your pages are as valuable as those of the market leaders. Once this is in place, the strategy pivots to focus on technical SEO, content refinement, and proactive link building.

It’s important to emphasise that link building and authority development are core aspects of your eCommerce SEO efforts. Additionally, it’s essential to capitalise on content opportunities that have a clear commercial focus.

Each campaign I manage is distinctive, crafted to meet the unique demands of each industry and its customer base to drive impactful results. SEO is driven by data and metrics, and this is my area of expertise. Reach out to learn more about how I can help your business grow.

Technical & Digital Support

Many people who come to me often need other areas of their website (or even their business overall) looking after.

Before turning to SEO in 2008 I worked as an IT technician and this combination has put me in good stead to help you in lots of ways that are often outside the scope of pure SEO.

Whether it’s a website migration, SEO audit, email support, AI prompt solutions, looking for a more effective way working using technology etc, I’m here to help.

For small businesses, SEO may initially appear to be quite straightforward, that is, until your strategy suddenly fails to yield results or you find yourself needing to shift your focus back to core business functions.

With Google’s algorithms undergoing hundreds of updates annually and the increasing integration of AI adding further complexity to the mix, navigating the ever changing SEO landscape can quickly become a daunting task. Yet, it is precisely this intricate nature of SEO that I find thrilling and satisfying.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or uncertain about how to proceed, this is where my team and I can step in to provide expert guidance and support.

YOUR PPC IS COSTING A SMALL FORTUNE EACH MONTH

Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising can be a powerful tool for managing specific keywords, allowing you to activate or deactivate them as needed to optimise your campaign.

However, web pages rarely rank for just a single keyword. In fact, they have the potential to rank for dozens or even hundreds of keywords simultaneously.

Imagine the financial implications of attempting to target all of these keywords through a Google Ads campaign! You would need to use broad match keyword settings and could very quickly exhaust your advertising budget, leaving you with little to show for your investment.

In contrast, search engine optimisation (SEO) demands a more patient, long-term approach; it is more akin to running a marathon than sprinting a short distance. Once you embrace this fundamental principle, you’ll find that sustained SEO efforts can, over time, effectively reduce or even eliminate the need for costly PPC campaigns.

YOU'RE AN AGENCY OR FREELANCER AND NEED AN SEO

I enjoy working alongside freelancers and agencies and something I’ve done now for many years often without the client even knowing it was myself behind those results!

If you happen to be a digital agency or web designer operating in the Liverpool area or its surroundings, let’s chat over a brew. You’re more than welcome to stop by my office in Wirral, conveniently situated just off Chester High Road. Alternatively, if you prefer, we can arrange to meet at a location that better suits your needs and schedule.

I’m also always eager to explore potential partnerships and joint ventures with like-minded professionals who share my passion for delivering exceptional results. If you believe we could form a strong, mutually beneficial collaboration, I’d be more than happy to discuss the possibilities and see how we can combine our expertise to create something truly outstanding.

KNOW YOU NEED SEO HELP BUT NOT SURE WHERE TO START

The world of SEO is in a state of perpetual transformation, always adapting to new technologies and shifting user behaviours.

If you had asked for my advice even a year ago, I would have likely recommended a content centric approach for your SEO campaign.

However, as we find ourselves in the year 2024, the landscape has undergone a significant shift, with artificial intelligence (AI) now playing a pivotal role in shaping search experiences. In light of this development, it has become crucial to realign your SEO strategy to prioritise the targeting of commercial keywords. The emphasis on purely informational content has diminished, as search engines have become increasingly adept at directly providing users with the answers they seek within the search engine results page (SERP) itself.

Are we compatible?
Can we work together?

The relationship we have in business means a lot to me, and I really hope you feel the same way.

Trust Matters Most

It makes me really proud to tell you that my company has grown over the years mostly because of the great things our happy clients have said about us.

If you’re a Liverpool business looking for an SEO specialist who is honest and dependable, I’m here to give you a simple and reliable solution that fits your needs.

More Than Just SEO—Your Go-To Tech Helper

I started doing SEO back in 2008, after working in IT Support for 18 years, which included 7 awesome years in the RAF.

Clients come to me for help with all sorts of tech stuff, like fixing computer problems, getting their email working again, dealing with hosting issues, putting SSL certificates on their websites, keeping their websites running smoothly, adding cool things like snow effects for Christmas, and uploading new files for people to use.

You can always count on me to help out in any way I can.

Helping Those Who Have Tried SEO on Their Own

A lot of my clients in Liverpool started out just like you—they were really interested in making their website’s SEO better and had already done a pretty great job by themselves.

In fact, they often did such a good job that they now need to focus more on actually running their business.

I know it can be scary to hand your project over to someone new. Let me make you feel better by promising that, unless you tell me not to, my team and I always start by making a backup of your website. We make sure that any changes we make to your SEO can be undone if needed.

To be extra safe, we often make our changes on a test version of your website first, checking everything carefully before making it live.

You can still have control over any new content that goes up, because we know how important it is to keep your brand looking good. We also let you see all the backlinks we make and more. Being clear, keeping things secure, and making steady progress are really important to us. With us, you’re in good hands.

Got a Question? Just Ask!

If you have any questions, just use the form to ask. I’m always happy to explain SEO words in a way that’s easy to understand, so you always know what’s going on and can make good choices.
